Automatic bidding
Automatic bidding simplifies bidding in a REVERSIBLE auction. Just enter the highest price you're willing to pay for an item, and we'll handle the rest. With automatic bidding, you can stay competitive without needing to constantly monitor the auction.
How to set up automatic bidding
To use automatic bidding, enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay for the item and select Place Bid. We'll then bid on your behalf in increments to keep you in the lead, but only up to your limit. You'll receive notifications if someone outbids you, giving you the option to increase your maximum limit.
Why was I immediately outbid?
If you're outbid immediately after placing a bid, it's likely that another bidder is using automatic bidding with a higher maximum limit. To regain the lead, you'll need to increase your maximum bid.
Bid increments
When another bidder places a bid, we'll automatically bid slightly higher on your behalf. This increase in bid amount is known as a bid increment. Bid increments are smaller for lower bid prices and larger for higher price brackets.
Current price | Bid increment |
---|---|
Up to $99 | $1.00 |
$100-$499 | $5.00 |
$500-$999 | $10.00 |
$1000-$2499 | $20.00 |
$2500-$9999 | $50.00 |
$10,000-$24,999 | $100.00 |
$25,000 and above | $200.00 |
Occasionally, you may notice smaller bid increases. This indicates that another bidder placed a bid slightly higher than your automatic bid amount.
