The minimalist precision of the zero resistance set-in shoulder uniform block contrasts with the raw fuzzy exterior face of the Polartec® Alpha® Direct fabric. Generous—yet almost invisible—low position pockets and the integrated Shirtslingǽ enhance convenience and civility. The result is an ultralight ultra-versatile three season shirt that fascinates by virtue of what it's missing, as much as by what it's made of. Polartec® Alpha® Direct is designed as insulation that can be used with or without the need for face or lining fabrics. Essentially an open mesh of high loft polyester fibers, it forms an airy structure that traps heat close to the body and breathes exceptionally well. Polartec® Alpha® was originally developed for the U.S. Special Forces when they required a more advanced insulating material in their combat uniforms. This fabric is a new technology with active insulation that regulates core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This latest advancement in adaptable breathability helps eliminate the need of shedding or adding layers while on the move. A highly compressible fabric, it easily layers with other materials and is storable in small spaces.
